Coupe Foundry are a castings manufacturer which has operated from its existing site in Higher Walton for over a hundred years, producing general engineering and jobbing type cast iron castings. Originally known as William Coupe Ltd, it was a family owned business producing engineering castings with cupola-melted cast iron.
In 1994, Coupe Foundry recognised that to advance its cast iron business and progress with the developing ductile (sg) iron market, it was necessary to invest for the future. This necessitated changing to electric melting. Coupe Foundry therefore purchased two 7 tonne Inductotherm induction furnaces.
The company continued its production of cast iron castings during the installation of the new equipment and then quickly took advantage of the electric furnaces by expanding into the ductile (sg iron) casting market. Not satisfied in standing still, in 2001 Coupe Foundry expanded its product range still further by adding carbon steel castings to the full range of cast iron and ductile iron. 2009 saw the addition of ni-resist and ni-hard to the company portfolio.
