Typical Uses of SG/ Ductile Iron

This is the American standard for sg or ductile irons broadly equivalent to BS EN 1563 and has similar uses. Automotive press dies, pressure containing castings, pump castings, bearing housings and general engineering parts where greater elongational strength and impact resistance is required than is found with cast iron.

Typical Properties

Grades cast - 350/22 up to 700/2. The first figure of the grade indicates tensile strength in newtons per mm2 and the second the % elongation.
