Coupe Foundry boasts a comprehensive list of in-house technical abilities, as follows:
Photomicrography of microstructure; sample preparation.
Coin samples are taken from each batch of sg (ductile) iron. These are inspected, using the latest equipment, to ensure the quality and nodular count of the material.
An ARL Optical Emission Spectrograph is used for immediate measurement of elements in each batch of cast iron, sg (ductile) iron, steel and ni-resist iron. The spectrograph is linked to the Synchro32 manufacturing software to enable chemical certificates to be produced accurately. A Leco Combustion Analyzer is also used at the pouring point to check for carbon and sulphur content.
In-house tensile is carried out with a Denison Mayes tensile testing machine. This is also linked to the Synchro32 manufacturing software for seamless production of physical certification. Both the Denison Mayes machine and Brinell Hardness testing equipment are routinely calibrated in accordance with ISO9001:2000 procedures.
Ultrasonic Testing is available for flaw detection / velocity measurements. Dye Penetrant and magnetic particle testing can be carried out on site to ensure soundness of castings. Radiographic testing is available by subcontract.
Visual inspection; in-process and final inspection is carried out using hand measuring equipment.
Sieve testing, % bond content and compression testing are carried out regularly to ensure sand strengths are suitable for quality of casting finish and dimensional stability of castings.
All test and measuring equipment is routinely calibrated in accordance with ISO9001:2000 procedures.
Running systems, and stress indicators of cast iron, sg (ductile) iron, steel and ni-resist irons can be evaluated using MAGMASOFT simulation package and solid modeling by SOLIDWORKS.
